For my English113B assignment I had to read four articles and pick one that was my favorite and discuss why i appreciated the article and what I agreed about and what I disagreed about. I chose "What's the Matter with Kids These Days" by Amy Goldwasser. I hope you enjoy my opinion. Have a great night. Thank You for reading my post! :D
In the article, "What's the Matter with Kids These Days" by Amy Goldwasser made me appreciate the internet and what it has done for the world such as; posting the presidential debates on YouTube and very well determined the outcome of the 2013 elections. Internet has taken over the world and we should embrace it because technology has reached the point that it will be existent throughout life. I agree with Goldwasser when she states, "Once we stop regarding the Internet as a villain, stop presenting it as the enemy of history and literature and worldly knowledge, then our teenagers have the potential to become the next great voices of America". Internet has been about communication and with all the social media teenagers have spoken up and made changes about things that they really believed in. Internet has made us communicate with others better and has made us become storytellers of our lives making us young scholars. Some may say that internet has corrupted us just like Lessing the 88 year old women who says, "Kids today -- we're telling you! -- don't read, don't write, don't care about anything farther in front of them than their iPods". Honestly I am not going to lie I agree with her and disagree. I agree with her because everywhere I go I always see people texting even if they are driving people are more into a text message than their surroundings. That is not everyone that is why I disagree with her because people in University do read and do write and care about their studies. Even though some may disagree, Internet is making an impact on our society and instead of negligence we should embrace it.
Fantastic use of a "read more" cut, Chelsea, and great response! You are right--the only way to use something in a positive way is to fully embrace its potential!
